My childhood best friend was Tasha Penney. We were friends from senior kindergarden til grade 7 when she decided she'd rather be in the "cool" group than be friends with me. So she dumped me for them. At the end of grade 8 she wrote in my yearbook that she was sorry about what happened. Then I remember randomly in grade 9 seeing her at the subway station and we talked for about an hour. She's on Facebook and some of my mutual friends have her as a friend, but I don't. I doubt I will ever add her, if she added me though I guess I'd accept it. I think she is a nurse at St. Mike's hospital in Toronto right now. She's still friends with those same people she dumped me for, but whatever. It would've been pretty awesome to say you had a friend since you were 5, but I guess thats a pretty rare thing.

Sucks she wanted to be cool instead of being friends with you. I've had that happen a couple of times. My best childhood friend passed away so I won't touch on that, but it's very rare to have a friend for that long. These days, you can't even keep certain people as friends for even a year.

It is rare to have a friend that long.. and I had a similar thing happen with a friend in high school dumping me for the "cool" group and then later wanting to be friends again. We never were as close after that, but I didn't really hold a grudge - seeing who was in the cool group and who she'd had to hang out with each day I felt she'd probably suffered enough.

I hope you don't mind me commenting you here. I saw a comment you posted at the community utoronto. I noticed you said you were a Book and Media Studies major, I've been considering that program and I was wondering what you thought of it overall...how are the courses? what kind of assignments do you get? Thanks ^^

Hey!
Yeah, I just started the major this year (I am in 2nd year). So far I've only done the Bibliography and Print Culture course and this semester I am diong Readers and Readership. There are only 3 main Book and Media Studies courses and then there are a bunch of other courses you can take in other areas i.e. English, Women and Gender Studies etc. I like how much variety there is in the program.

The kind of assignments I have done so far... Our main assignment was doing a Descriptive Bibliography where we had to find a book before 1800 and describe it, that was interesting. We had a scavenger hunt during the Trinity College booksale where we had to find certain things in books or certain books, that was fun.

Overall I really enjoy the major, and if you are thinking about doing it I would reccomend it.
